Why use Timezone Buddy?

How this compares to World Time Buddy

Both Timezone Buddy and World Time Buddy compare time zones side-by-side for scheduling meetings across cities. Here is how this tool differs:

  • No signup, no ads. Your city list is saved in your browser, not tied to an account.
  • 30-minute meeting precision. Drag or use ±30m buttons to select half-hour meetings, not just whole hours.
  • Working-hours filter. One click dims cells outside 09:00–17:59 to instantly spot business-hour overlap across all zones.
  • Shareable URL. Every setup (cities, date, pinned meeting) fits in a link — no signup or bit.ly required.
  • Keyboard shortcuts. Arrows shift the meeting, Shift-arrows resize it, C copies times, L copies the link. Press ? to see them all.
  • Dark mode. Follows your system preference automatically.

World Time Buddy has features this tool does not, including calendar integration and mobile apps. Use whichever fits your workflow best.

Frequently asked questions

How do I compare time zones across cities?

Add cities using the search box at the top of the tool. Each city renders as its own row showing all 24 hours side-by-side. Hover any hour to see the equivalent time across every city instantly. Click or drag to pin a meeting window and share it with your team.

Does this tool handle daylight saving time?

Yes. All time calculations use the browser's built-in Intl API, which reads the current IANA timezone database. DST transitions are handled automatically for every city, including cities where DST does not apply (like Tokyo, Beijing or Singapore).

Can I select a 30-minute meeting?

Yes. Drag from one half of an hour cell to another to select a range in 30-minute increments. Once a meeting window is pinned, use the −30m and +30m buttons in the toolbar to fine-tune the duration. The minimum meeting duration is 30 minutes.

Can I share a specific timezone setup via link?

Yes. Click the Copy link button in the toolbar to copy a URL that encodes your cities, the viewing date and any pinned meeting window. Anyone who opens the link sees the exact same setup — useful for sharing meeting proposals with team members in other zones.

Is Timezone Buddy free? Do I need an account?

Yes it is free and no account is required. Your city list is saved locally in your browser, so it persists across visits without any signup. There are no ads and no premium tier.

What is the working-hours filter?

The Work hours button in the toolbar dims all cells outside 09:00 to 17:59 in each city's local time. This makes it instantly visible which hours overlap across every zone during standard business hours — the fastest way to spot a viable meeting slot across many time zones.

What keyboard shortcuts are available?

Press ? at any time to open the shortcuts help card. In short: arrows shift the pinned meeting by 30 minutes, Shift+arrows shrink or extend it, Esc clears the meeting, C copies meeting times to the clipboard, L copies a shareable link, W toggles the work-hours filter.
